My 11 Y.O. child suffers from insomnia. ?
Well, I had to go get my daughter from school today, just an hour after she got there. Again. She’s falling asleep in school. The thing is, she can’t sleep at night.
She is on meds for epilepsy that could make her sleepy in the morning, but she takes those same meds at night, twice as much,actually, and they don’t knock her out. So why do they in the morning?
This has been a problem for a very long time. We have been using melatonin for a couple of years and it has completely lost its effectiveness. I gave her 25 mg of Benadryl last night, but apparently, it didn’t do the trick. When I give half of a Unisom, it wakes her up!
Any ideas? The school nurse asked me if I had thought about home-schooling her. Ack!
My use of drugs on her? Do you have a kid with epilepsy? Do you have intractable seizures? No? Then be quiet. Sleeplessness triggers seizures.
I’m not giving her heroine, I’m trying to help her sleep so that she can avoid seizures and go to school.
you should probably try to keep her up for a solid 24 hours and let her go to sleep at a normal time like 9pm so reset her internal clock
